With his classic French training, Belgian chef Roel Lintermans delivers the finest French cuisine in the German capital as the executive chef of the 2-star Les Solistes, at the Waldorf Astoria Berlin
HEF ROEL Lintermans’ formative years were spent in his native Belgium, at the Saint Joseph hotel school in Geel, but it wasn’t long before he was drawn to the culinary capital of Europe: Paris. There, he graduated from the prestigious Parisian Ferrandi cooking school, École Supérieure de Cuisine Francaise, and went on to gain practical experience in several prominent restaurants, among which was the iconic 3-star restaurant Alain Ducasse.
He worked in restaurants across France for some years, followed by eight years in Switzerland as executive chef at various fine-dining establishments, before embarking on a successful collaboration with French great Pierre Gagnaire in 2008. For four years, Lintermans was executive chef of Gagnaire’s Michelin-starred London restaurant Sketch.
In December 2012, the pair gave continuity to their collaboration at Les Solistes by Pierre Gagnaire, the flagship restaurant of the Waldorf Astoria Berlin. With Lintermans’ skill and expertise at the helm of the kitchen, and the vision of culinary master Gagnaire in the kitchen concept and menu structure, the restaurant gained its first star less than one year after opening.
At the stylish Les Solistes, Lintermans, named Berlin Master Chef 2014, uses a modern approach to classic French cooking techniques, combining new French cuisine with regional specialities. Elegance and refinement define the culinary approach of this experienced Belgian chef, whose team was specifically trained at Pierre Gagnaire’s eponymous 3-star restaurant in Paris.
